So I wrote about this film a while ago, but just this week I saw that The Windshield Wiper from Alberto Mielgo is posted and viewable in full on Youtube right now. And of course, this is super late since it was posted I guess two years ago. But its new to me, so you have a look now, too. You’re welcome.
Alberto Mielgo is one of the most impressive, stylish and influential artists around in the last 10 years. for at least me personally. Its his work that inspired me to better myself painting digitally, because of the work he’s done looks so striking, and has such a soulful, tactile quality… You can feel his work dripping with style whether its an oil painting on board, a digital drawing or a cg film. The fidelity of this style, this feeling, across different applications is remarkable.
Mielgos work has that elusive quality I find so compelling in work, where it is very hard to tell just how it is made— For even a veteran artist like myself. There is a certain magic in that uncertainty of craft that is present beneath any aesthetic beauty or truth in storytelling that is just wonderful.
Oh, and it won an Oscar for Animated Short in 2022.

I am so late to the punch that the boxing ring is already cleaned up and empty. It has been for years.
I love relationships.
Its a thing that for some reason I kind of like, end up keep using it in many of my projects: either comic books, or films…
I feel that nowadays, love is evolving together with society, and now society is changing drastically within the last decades
The concept of family and the advantages of creating a family do not longer exist the same way for example as when my parents, they were much younger. The convenience of creating a strong family…
So this concept of commitment is very different now, and this film basically talks about that
