Take The Road Back

November 22, 2008 | In Design, Illustration, Personal, Print, Type/Logo

I designed this poster to promote alternative transportation as a part of the Drive Less Walk More series initiated by my friend Brian Gossett.

Other contributors focus on walking as a means of transportation. As a cyclist and daily commuter via bicycle, I thought it only made sense to make my contribution promoting bikes and thinking about roads in a broader sense than just for cars. Cycling is healthy, fast and fun.

50 Posters are signed numbered two color silk-screen at 20×26″ and sold with profits benefiting World-Changing.

Here’s some unused art I made for the project:

Some of my original ideas were about avoiding driving rather than cycling, and I sort of have a crush on old american and german mini buses. The two there are a ford a1oo and a dodge mini bus I’ve seen around the neighborhood. The idea on the right was all about riding bikes with your friends and I wanted to show the sort of iconic west coast with hills and mountains and a metropolis near the sea.

These are both versions with two different kinds of stingrays. The left is a 72 Grey Ghost and the right is from ’79.
